In McKinney a jury will decide whether a Richardson woman is mentally sound to stand trial for the capital murder of her ex-boyfriend's mother.
Tranisa Watts, 24, is accused in the April, 2020 shooting death of 52-year old Kentoria Edwards. The shooting happened in the parking lot of a Starbucks on Renner Road in Richardson during a court-ordered visitation.
At the time, Edwards had custody of Watts' child, who was three years old.
Police say Edwards was still alive when police arrived but died a short time later.
Watts' lawyers claim she is mentally unfit and cannot assist in the defense. If the jury decides Watts is sound, the trial is scheduled to begin in October.
