A judge on Monday officially sentenced 40-year old Yaqub Talib to 37-years in prison for the 2022 murder of a youth football coach.

The brother of former NFL cornerback Aqib Talib admitted to murdering Lancaster youth football coach Michael Hickman last year after a disputed call in a children's football game.

During victim impact statements, Cicily Hickman, brother of the victim, told Talib his reckless actions could have killed others.

Talib has been out of jail after he posted a $1 million bond, much to the aggravation of Kenyetta Hickmon, the wife of the victim who did not want Talib on the streets.

“He should never get out. He should get execution. That’s what I feel,” said Kenyetta Hickmon in 2022. “He has taken, not only my husband, but he’s taken him away from my kids. He’s destroyed other little kids. He should never be out.”

Court records show it's not the first time that guns and Yaqub Talib have crossed paths. He has a misdemeanor charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon from a May 2021 arrest. He was also busted for meth possession that same day.
