There are reports that the Carroll school board has agreed to settle an open-records lawsuit tied to the district's now disbanded "diversity council."

NBC-5 says reporters have acquired a copy of a settlement in a lawsuit filed by a parent who claimed trustees met in secret to plan the "diversity council" in violation of the Texas Open Meetings Act.
As reported, the settlement will reimburse the parent more than $100,000 in legal fees plus the district will disband the council which was organized in response to requests to make the Carroll district more inclusive of minority students.
The council began meeting after videos of Carroll students chanting the n-word went viral two years ago.
