In the Carrollton-Farmers Branch school district students are dying from fentanyl, so the school district is hosting a parent workshop Monday night to education parents about the crisis.
Three students in the district have died from fentanyl overdoses and a handful of others are recovering after overdosing. It's a crisis according to law enforcement and parents need to know how it's impacting their kids.
Three people have already been arrested and charged with selling the drugs. Police are still investigating.
District leaders along with police and medicial professionals will be at tonight's workshop to explain to parents how deadly fentanyl can be and to help them figure out if their kids are at risk.
Officials say parents will also learn more about talking with their kids about the dangers of fentanyl and other illegal drugs.
District leaders are encouraging all parents to attend. The meeting is set for 6:00 p.m. Monday at the Education Services Complex on Pearl St in Carrollton. Another workshop is being scheduled for next month.
