Army Pfc. Isabella Gonzales of Carrollton was laid to rest Sunday morning at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with full military honors.
The 19-year-old soldier was killed July 17 during an Iranian attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. She was among U.S. service members who died in the incident while serving as an air and missile defense crew member.
Gonzales graduated from Hebron High School in 2025 and enlisted in the Army shortly afterward at age 17. She completed training and was assigned to a unit based in Germany before deploying to Jordan.
A memorial service was held Saturday at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, where family, friends, fellow soldiers, community members and elected officials remembered her as courageous, joyful and deeply committed to service. Her uncle, Alfredo Muniz, described her willingness to take on the deployment despite the risks. Carrollton Mayor Steve Babick and military leaders also spoke, praising her character and quick adaptation to Army life.
Hundreds attended the weekend events, which included an honor motorcycle ride through Carrollton. Patriot Guard Riders escorted the procession to the cemetery. Gonzales is survived by her mother, sister, fiancé and other family members.
Local American Legion Post 597 and community members provided support for the family. Gonzales’ remains had been returned to the United States in a dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base in late July.
