The search for Dallas’ next police chief is nearing its conclusion as City Manager Kimberly Tolbert prepares to select from five finalists following a public forum.

The candidates — Danial Comeaux of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Carrollton Police Chief Roberto Arredondo, former FBI Assistant Director Brian Boetig, Dallas Assistant Chief Catrina Shead, and current Dallas Interim Police Chief Michael Igo — took part in a community meet-and-greet at Dallas City Hall on Monday evening. The event allowed residents to question the candidates and share their concerns about the future of the department.

Tolbert emphasized the importance of public engagement in the selection process. She is expected to meet with the finalists on Wednesday before making a decision on who will lead the department.

No timeline has been announced for when the final decision will be made.
