A local pet store isn’t too happy with the City of Dallas over its new ordinance on puppy and kitten sales.

The City of Dallas is being sued over its new Humane Pet Store Ordinance, which goes into effect in November. The lawsuit has been filed by D&J Pets on behalf of Petland Dallas.

According to the lawsuit, puppy and kitten sales account for 80 percent of the pet shop’s annual revenue. It lawsuit claims the ordinance discriminates against the store and is in violation of the Texas Constitution.

Dallas is not the first city to pass a measure like this. In fact, according to the Humane Society of North Texas, it’s the last major city in the state to enact these kinds of regulations. The city says it cannot comment on the legal action taken by D&J Pets.
