If your vehicle is towed in the City of Fort Worth, it will soon cost you more money.

When the Fort Worth City Council approves a new contract for a towing vendor for police-ordered tows resulting from crashes, breakdowns or violations, it will include an increase in towing fees.

For light or medium-duty vehicles, the fee goes from $150 to $180.

For heavy-duty vehicles, the fee goes from $250 to $300.

Extra time surcharges go from $100 to $120 dollars.

The city says the increases are needed to cover rising fuel charges and toll rates.

The new fees will go into effect this coming Sunday.
