The city of McKinney is putting Fire Station 11 on Rundell Way into service Wednesday. The station will serve the Craig Ranch area.
"Station 11 helps McKinney’s fire department keep pace with the city’s phenomenal growth," McKinney Fire Chief Danny Kistner said.
Some equipment and personnel for the new station will come from nearby Fire Station 8, which will be torn down and rebuilt. Part of Station 8's territory will be covered by Station 11 and the other part will be covered by crews at Fire Station 3.
The new fire station on Rundell Way includes a training tower and modern equipment designed to help reduce the risk of cancer for firefighters. There's also space for a storefront office for the McKinney Police Department that will be used by patrol officers in the neighborhood.
