A former child's youth softball coach has been sentenced to prison after years of abusing a young girl.
37-year-old Michael Angel Garcia, of Prosper, was convicted of Continuous Sexual Assault of a Child under 14 and Sexual Assault of a Child.
Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis says Garcia used his position to sexually abuse the victim for years.
"The abuse continued until she became pregnant with his child," Willis said. "Those who abuse children while in a position of trust will be held accountable."
Garcia was accused of sexually abusing the girl from the age of six to 14 years old when she became pregnant.
Tests determined that Garcia was the father of the baby.
Garcia was sentenced to 50 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
