A Corinth man is due to be sentenced today after pleading guilty in connection with the deadly riot at the US Capitol on January 6.

Federal prosecutors want 34-year old Daniel Goodwyn locked up for three months, not just for that one minute he spent inside the US capitol building, but for also what happened before and during and after that time.

Court records show Goodwyn went to the US Capitol after attending President Trump's Stop the Steal speech. On the Capitol steps he used a bullhorn to incite other people, at one point telling the crowd "we need critical mass for this to work."

Inside the Capitol, Goodwyn ignored police instructions before leaving.

He was charged with:
Knowingly Entering or Remaining in any Restricted Building or Grounds Without Lawful Authority;
Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct on Capitol Grounds;
Obstruction of an Official Proceeding;
Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds;
Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building

After pleading guilty, Goodwyn showed up on a Fox News television program minimizing what he did, then pushing a fund-raising page.

The Government wants the $25,000 he raised.

Goodwyn's attorney says the Corinth man has taken responsibility for his actions and on the Autism spectrum. He wants Goodwyn sentenced to the 21 days he spent in jail.
