The Dallas Cowboys evened their season at 2-2 with a 34-30 comeback win over the Houston Texans on Sunday at Reliant Stadium. Dak Prescott found CeeDee Lamb for a 12-yard touchdown with 40 seconds left, capping an 11-play, 74-yard drive that included a fourth-down conversion.
The Associated Press reported that Lamb finished with a career-high 17 catches for 189 yards in his first NFL game in Houston, the city he considers his second home. Coach Brian Schottenheimer said he knew the game mattered to Lamb and his family, and that Lamb put on a show. Prescott threw for 335 yards. Javonte Williams ran for three touchdowns, all in the second half.
Dallas trailed 16-6 at halftime. The Cowboys took their first lead on Williams’ 2-yard run, which made it 27-23 with about 11 minutes left. Houston answered. Woody Marks scored on a 6-yard run with 2:23 remaining to put the Texans ahead 30-27. The drive included a hook-and-ladder on third-and-14, with a short catch by Dalton Schultz and a 19-yard run by David Montgomery.
C.J. Stroud threw for 347 yards. Nico Collins, back after missing two games with a hamstring injury, caught seven passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Houston had one more chance after Lamb’s score. Stroud’s last pass fell incomplete. The loss dropped the Texans to 0-4, their first 0-4 start since 2020. Houston visits Tennessee next Sunday.
The win keeps Dallas tied with Philadelphia at 2-2 in the NFC East, a game behind the New York Giants. The Cowboys host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday at AT&T Stadium. The NFL lists kickoff for 8:15 p.m. Eastern, 7:15 p.m. Central, on Prime Video. Tampa Bay is also 0-4.
The Dallas Cowboys said Lamb’s day powered the team to 2-2 heading into the short week, and that the Buccaneers are next at AT&T Stadium for Thursday Night Football. Prescott said after the game that getting the win with his teammates was a blessing.
