Park Place Dealerships has started construction on a Porsche dealership and expanded Volvo service center in Dallas. The companies held a groundbreaking at the site near Lemmon and Inwood south of Love Field.

"It's important to paint the picture of what our north star is. Our north star is to be the most guest-centered automotive retailer," says Asbury Automotive Group Chief Operating Officer Dan Clara.

Clara says the Asbury focuses on team members, customers and partners to achieve that goal.

"We know that's a journey. We're never going to achieve perfection, but as long as we're better today than we were yesterday, we're making strides in our journey," he says. "This project right here encompasses us giving back to every single one of those three key items."

Clara expects construction to wrap up in 2027.

Porsche Cars North America first opened in Dallas in 1987.

"The Dallas market is very important to Porsche Cars North America," says Vice President Dave Kurtz. "Their commitment and dedication to the brand and also the clientelle that's based here and buys here; it's a very, very good market for us."

Kurtz says the market in North Texas is growing for luxury cars. Collin and Tarrant Counties were among the ten fastest growing in the country by total population in 2024; Kaufman County was the second fastest growing by percentage with its population increasing six percent. Kurtz says the dealership in Dallas outperforms other parts of the country.

"It's definitely a growing market," Kurtz says. "This is the pinnacle of what our facilities are like. It's a location and destination for consumers. It's destination Porsche with the latest and greatest technolgy inside the facility, also from service, parts, all the way through."

"The commitment you're making and, obviously, the commitment to us is very important, but the commitment to the community will benefit from this beautiful new building," says Volvo's Steve Klipstein.

Dallas City Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem Jesse Moreno says construction would provide an economic boost.

"This district has a lot of economic drivers like Love Field to the financial institutions that power our city," he says.

Moreno says Park Place is reinforcing its "commitment to Dallas." He says Porsche and Volvo would not expand in Dallas if they did not see a market.

"This, to me, shows the growth that's coming to the City of Dallas," he says. "We have a lot of banking industries that are coming to Dallas that have the capacity to purchase a vehicle like a Volvo or Porsche. That means our economy is strong."

In turn, Moreno says Dallas is improving the streetscape on Lemmon and investing in infrastructure through the bond passed by voters in 2024.

"That's something we're committed to," he says. "Obviously, we're ready to host the World Cup in just over 100 days. We're ready to welcome people from around the world to Dallas, and they'll be able to see what we have to offer in our great city."

Park Place Dealerships bought 15 acres of land at Lemmon and Inwood in December 2024.
