Businesses that contribute to Dallas' nightlife are working together to prevent drunk driving during the holiday season. 24HourDallas represents bars and restaurants across the city.

"We're a non-profit whose mission is to unify nighttime businesses, municipal agencies and non-profits to make Dallas safer, more inclusive and more safe at night," said Bryan Tony, project manager for 24HourDallas' Good Neighbor Initiative.

Tony said businesses in different parts of the city started displaying QR codes this week that can provide a $10 Lyft voucher.

About 60 bars and restaurants are also displaying a copper star. The copper star shows they meet recognized safety standards, are involved with their community, and maintain a welcoming environment.

"We recognize it takes businesses across Dallas to do what they can to make sure their staffs are properly trained to intervene before people get behind the wheel and make sure we're reducing impaired driving, not allowing underage drinking and promoting responsible behavior," Tony said.

Businesses certified with the Good Neighbor Initiative can receive a grant, and 24HourDallas says it hopes the programs can help businesses grow. The organization says its work aims to help businesses build trust with police and make customers feel safer.
