Participating McDonald’s restaurants across Texas begin selling a limited-time Texas Meal on Tuesday, built around a 10-piece order of Chicken McNuggets or Spicy Chicken McNuggets, medium fries and a medium drink.
The food is familiar. The packaging is the pitch. McDonald’s is serving the combo in a Texas-themed bag printed with cowboy boots, a state outline and the word “Howdy,” according to KRIS 6 in Corpus Christi and Tasting Table.
The collectible is the cup. Texas artist Avery Orendorf designed seven regional designs:
- Dallas/Fort Worth — Metroplex culture
- Houston — Space City
- San Antonio — Alamo City heritage
- Austin/Central Texas — capital-region character
- West Texas — frontier East Texas — natural charm
- Rio Grande Valley/South Texas — border culture
KRIS 6 reported that Orendorf’s artwork draws on landmarks and local identity. Customers can ask for a region, but franchisees may not stock every cup. Price and participation vary. The promotion is limited time.
The Texas Meal also marks the return of Spicy Chicken McNuggets, last widely sold in 2024, Tasting Table reported. Mighty Hot Sauce is coming back as well. Those items are scheduled to roll out at participating restaurants nationwide on Sept. 1. The themed bag and Orendorf cups are Texas-only.
McDonald’s Houston’s official Instagram account promoted the launch by asking, “What’s your Texas?” and telling customers to request the Texas Meal with a 10-piece Spicy McNuggets combo and one of the seven cups.
For North Texas diners, the Metroplex cup is the hometown design. Stores are not promising a full set in one visit. Anyone hunting a specific region should ask at the counter or in the app before paying.
