The Texas Workforce Commission is awarding $3.5 million to Dallas College. The money is coming from its Skills Development Fund to help train employees in construction-related courses.
“These TWC grants address the middle-skill gap in Texas, strengthening the state’s economic potential,” said TWC Chairman Bryan Daniel.
The training includes pipe layers, plumbers, construction managers, sheet metal workers, trade and extraction workers, surveyors, welders and HVAC technicians.
The grant is expected to cover the cost of training for more than 1,500 people.
