Dallas County Judge Clay Lewis Jenkins is running for a fifth term.

He filed the paperwork Monday morning asking voters to allow him to continue serving.

Jenkins says he's seen a number of improvements in Dallas County in this term alone.

"We've made some strides in homelessness, we're making some strides in downtown," Jenkins said.

Jenkins says the county is also doing a better job at getting numbers of STI's down through the health department.

He also says they are making improvements on a problem involving lost documents in the county.

Jenkins has served as Dallas County Judge since 2011. During that time, he has overseen county operations during a 2012 surge of West Nile Virus, the 2014 Ebola scare, and the COVID-19 outbreak of 2020.

"Those are things that we didn't plan to happen obviously, but they did happen," Jenkins said. "We work constantly to prepare for those things."

Jenkins filed for a fifth term at the Dallas County Democratic Headquarters.
