Dallas County prosecutors have landed a second plea in a mass shooting that happened at a crowded block party.

Prosecutors say 21-year-old Bryce Jones of Rowlett will now avoid a life prison term by pleading guilty to a reduced charge and promising to testify against others.

Jones was one of four teenagers arrested for opening fire into the crowd at a July 4th block party in the Hamilton Park area of North Dallas, right across from the Pacesetter Magnet school. Three people were killed, three others were wounded, and hundreds were sent fleeing.

Although the shooting happened in a relatively small area police recovered more than 100 bullet casings.

Jones was one of four suspects indicted for capital murder. He pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

A co-defendant pleaded guilty last year, and two more are awaiting trial.
