The Dallas County Health Department is reporting its first case of Monkeypox this year.

The Health Department says the person recently traveled internationally to a country that has reported Monkeypox cases. They have also reached out to people who had direct contact with the patient and are monitoring them.

The CDC is also working with the airline to contact passengers and others who may have been in contact with that person on a flight from Mexico to Dallas.

The patient has not been hospitalized and is recovering at home.

The Health Department says there's little known risk to the general public.

The Texas Department of State Health Services also confirms this is the first case of Monkeypox in the entire state of Texas this year.
