Dallas Fire Rescue says a blaze damaged an Oncor substation Sunday morning. Crews were called to the station on Sargent Road, west of the I-45/Overton interchange at 12:46 a.m.

"First arriving companies reported out with lots of fire, and a large plume of black smoke coming from the facility, when they arrived," Dallas Fire Rescue wrote in a statement.

Dallas Fire Rescue says crews initially planned to let the fire burn itself out. They had set a plan to protect neighboring buildings and property, but the department says it worked with Oncor to cut power to the substation "so suppression operations could take place."

Oncor said no one lost power as a result of the fire.

Crews applied foam, so HazMat responded and Dallas Stormwater Operations was notified along with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and EPA.

At 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Dallas Fire Rescue said the fire was "largely knocked down," but crews were still on the scene to ensure debris would not reignite. Dallas Fire Rescue says the cause was still under investigation Sunday.
