On Sunday June 19, Dallas Heritage Village will turn back the clock, as the oldest park in the city will return to its former name, Old City Park.
Additionally, through a gift by the Eugene McDermott Foundation, the park will go to a free admission model on Thursdays through Sundays and holiday Mondays.
"We want to be a place that people can, of course, learn," executive director Preston Cooley said. "Also a place that if they just want to come and hang out with their families and have a picnic...we want to be everything to everybody."
The park said their visitors will still get the same quality access to educational programming, and they will still be having special ticketed events (like Old-Fashioned Fourth & Candlelight).
Dallas Heritage Village will officially rebrand to Old City Park on Juneteenth (June 19), with a community celebration starting at 10 a.m.
