The Dallas Holiday Parade rolls through downtown Saturday morning, beginning at 9 a.m. at Commerce and Houston streets and drawing thousands of visitors to the city’s core.
The route moves east along Commerce before turning onto Harwood and then Young Street, finishing near Young and Akard.
City officials warn drivers to expect lane closures and limited parking throughout the Central Business District, especially along Commerce where bleachers and staging areas are already in place.
DART rail and bus service will operate on normal schedules and is being promoted as the easiest way for parade-goers to reach the area without facing heavy traffic or detours.
The annual parade, first launched in 1988, is one of Dallas’ largest holiday traditions and typically features marching bands, floats, giant balloons and an appearance by Santa Claus.
Festivities in Main Street Garden and surrounding streets will continue after the parade as families move through downtown for holiday events.
