Dallas ISD Board of Trustees to vote on approval of renaming several schools with Confederate ties

Some Dallas ISD schools will get new names if the Board of Trustees gives its approval this evening.

The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees will consider at its meeting this evening changing the names of three schools currently named for former Confederate leaders.

The three schools are John Ireland Elementary School, John H. Reagan Elementary School and Sidney Lanier Expressive Arts Vanguard.

Ireland would be renamed the Sylvia Mendez CREW Leadership Academy, Reagan would be renamed the Bishop Arts STEM Academy, and Lanier would be renamed Jesus Moroles Expressive Arts Vanguard.

This evening's meeting starts at 6pm.
