The Dallas man who engaged in a gunbattle with an off-duty Plano police officer this week has now been charged with Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant.
Police say Steven Ray Jordan is held on that count plus two charges out of Dallas County including abandoning or endangering a child and assault with a deadly weapon.
Jordan was arrested Wednesday afternoon at the end of a shootout in the parking lot of a Plano 7-Eleven.
An off-duty officer was in the store and witnessed a quarrel between a man and the clerk. When the man, later identified as Jordan, went to his car for a gun, the officer pulled his own pistol and exchanged shots with Jordan.
The investigation into the officer's actions is continuing.
