A Dallas man has been indicted for a December murder in the Uptown area of Dallas, but it's how police solved the case that makes it different.

Reports say 45-year-old Corey Thompson is the man who police say used an AR-15-style rifle to kill a man at a Wells Fargo ATM in the 2200 block of McKinney Ave. It happened 5 days before Christmas.

The victim, identified as Roderick Butler, had been shot in the face. An arrest affidavit says a security camera captured an image of a man with distinctive clothing that someone had seen before.

It ends up, that Thompson had contacted police a month earlier complaining that someone tried to kill him. And when a Dallas Police officer took the report, Thompson was wearing the same clothes as the murder suspect, it was all recorded on a body camera.

The indictment means Thompson will now stand trial for felony murder.
