Monica Tutt, 39, was arrested after a devastating car accident last Thursday (10/10/24). She was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol when her vehicle collided with several parked cars in Southeast Oak Cliff, in Dallas County. The crash resulted in critical injuries to her nine-year-old son.

Witnesses described Tutt's attempt to flee the scene, but her damaged vehicle prevented her escape. Her son was immediately transported to a local hospital, where doctors discovered a severe head injury that exposed part of his skull. The young boy was in critical condition due to the extent of his injuries, which included a brain bleed, fractured skull, and air in his brain.

Tutt was later located at her sister's residence and taken into custody. Police officers observed signs of intoxication, including glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. Despite her claims of only having consumed a few drinks, Tutt failed both a field sobriety test and a preliminary breathalyzer test.

She was subsequently charged with intoxication assault and a collision involving serious bodily injury. Dallas County jail records indicate that Tutt's bail was set at $125,000. The incident has raised concerns about the dangers of drunk driving and the potential consequences for both the driver and innocent bystanders.
