The City of Dallas is taking applications for a program to help people who are struggling economically because of COVID-19 to make their rent payments.
Dallas received $18 million through the CARES Act for its COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program.
Officials say people can apply for up to $1,500 of assistance per-month through the program. The money can be used to make over-due rent payments or future rent payments through December of 2021.
Landlords can also apply on behalf of their tenants. Applicants need to live within the Dallas city limits and meet certain income guidelines.
Applications are being accepted online through a web site set up for the program at www.DallasRentRelief.com.
