Dallas police shot and killed a man in Old East Dallas after reports someone was trying to kick down doors while holding a knife.
Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux says officers tried convincing the man to drop the knife using "less-than-lethal-force," but then the man charged officers while still holding the knife.
Chief Comeaux says at that time, officers then shot him.
"Officers shot him with his duty pistol," Chief Comeaux said. "They transported him to the hospital. At that time, he passed away." Comeaux said.
The knife was recovered and no officers were hurt.
"The Dallas County District Attorney's Office is doing their investigation along with the Oversight Committee," Comeaux said.
