A new but temporary eviction ordinance has been enacted in Dallas.
The current ordinance was put in place during the peak of the Coronavirus outbreak when many tenants were struggling to pay their rent. It demanded landlords give a 21-day warning before posting an eviction notice.
But with the virus becoming more under control, the new ordinance lowers that advance warning period to ten days. This change is designed to be temporary.
Next week, a draft of a permanent eviction ordinance will be presented to the Dallas city council's housing and homelessness committee. It could come up for a vote before the full council in December.
