A DART police officer is in stable condition after being struck by a stray bullet during a shooting near the MLK Jr. Station in South Dallas on Thursday evening.
Dallas police responded around 8 p.m. to an officer-assist call in the 1400 block of South Trunk Avenue, near Fair Park. Officers determined that suspects had been firing at each other in the area. A DART officer working near the transit station was hit in the leg by a stray round.
Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the officer to a hospital. Authorities said the officer remained in stable condition. No passengers or other DART employees were injured, according to a statement from DART spokesperson Jasmyn Carter. The shooting occurred off DART property, and Dallas police are leading the investigation.

No arrests have been made. Police have not released descriptions of the suspects or details about what sparked the gunfire. The investigation remains active, and information is limited as detectives continue their work.
