Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s long-awaited Silver Line opens to riders tomorrow, linking seven North Texas cities and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport for the first time by rail.

The 26-mile commuter route runs from Plano to DFW Airport with stops in Richardson, Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, and Dallas. DART officials say the new line is designed to make regional travel faster and easier while easing congestion on major highways.

The Silver Line includes 10 stations and will operate daily from 4 a.m. to 1 a.m., with trains running every 30 minutes during weekday peak times and hourly during off-peak hours. To celebrate the launch, DART is offering free rides through November 8.

The project, years in the making, marks a major milestone in expanding DFW’s public transportation network and improving connections between suburban cities and the airport.
