Two North Texas dentists owe employees nearly $16,000 in back pay for firing them illegally, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Department.

The owners of the Roger Bohannan dental practice in North Richland Hills illegally fired a hygienist and a dental assistant during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020, according to the Labor Department.

The office was shut down at the end of March and employees were furloughed. The two workers claim they were let go for asking questions about COVID-19 protocols that would be put in place once the office re-opened at the end of April.

The Labor Department filed suit against Roger and David Bohannan, the owners of the practice, in July 2021. Earlier this month the court ordered the dentists to pay the fired employees $15,700 in back pay.
