When it comes to COVID-19 in Denton County there seems to be a glimmer of hope.
County Health Director Matt Richardson says the new case count seems to have plateaued. However, the county has still been reporting more than 3,000 new cases per week.

He says hospital ICU capacity has also plateaued, but the numbers are still high and the county is struggling to provide staffed ICU beds.
"I heard another story yesterday about somebody with a cardiac condition that couldn't be seen in an ICU, couldn't be served," Richardson said. "Those stories are starting to stack."
Denton County has had less than five beds available for weeks and more and more people are being turned away because there simply isn’t room for them.
On top of that, Richardson says officials are reporting a greater number of deaths from this most recent surge.
