Officials with the City of Denton are warning about a new scam involving Denton Municipal Electric.
Officials say people are going door to door, asking to take photos of DME customer's electric bills.
The scammers claim to be partners of DME Power, but they’re lying. DME is not affiliated with these people, neither is the city.
If one of these scammers tries to target you, you can report it to police or to DME.
Officials say as a general rule of thumb, you should never give out your billing or account info to anyone claiming to be a partner of the city.
