Several airports in Texas are getting funds from the Federal Aviation Administration for construction and renovation projects. DFW International Airport is getting two grants through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

One allocation of $25 million will be used to replace the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system in Terminal D with modern, energy-efficient equipment. The airport will also install dimmable "smart glass" and a new eco-friendly roof as part of that project.

A $10 million allotment will go towards the installation of a Zero Carbon Electric Central Utility Plant to help the airport to achieve its goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2030.

"Today’s funding doesn't just improve Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport’s terminal. It creates opportunities in the community for good-paying jobs and a chance to be part of our country’s thriving aviation sector," said FAA Deputy Administrator A. Bradley Mims.

The FAA also announced that George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston will receive $9.6 million to help replace or repair restrooms, lighting systems, escalators and HVAC systems. San Antonio International Airport will get $20 million. Airports in Lubbock, Texarkana, Killeen and McAllen will also receive funding for construction projects.

"Americans deserve the best airports in the world, and with demand for air travel surging back, this funding to improve the passenger experience couldn't come at a more urgent time," said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
