Drivers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are seeing gas prices jump about 30 cents in the last 24 hours, climbing from $3.69 to $3.99 a gallon for regular unleaded.

The sharp surge follows several weeks of steady increases and stems from the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict disrupting oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. That narrow waterway normally carries about one-fifth of the world’s seaborne crude. Reduced tanker traffic there has pushed global oil prices higher even though the United States produces more energy than it consumes.

North Texas commuters are feeling the pinch as spring travel ramps up. A typical 15-gallon fill-up now costs roughly $4.50 more than it did yesterday. Families, delivery drivers, small businesses and ride-share workers all face added expenses that can ripple into higher costs for groceries and goods.

Texas prices remain below the current national average, but the latest jump reflects renewed volatility after earlier April relief. Analysts say the situation remains fluid as diplomatic talks continue over the strait.
