Everman (1080 KRLD) - The superintendent of the Everman ISD has passed away.
Dr. Curtis Amos, who became superintendent in 2014, died peacefully at home Saturday afternoon at the age of 53 following a three-year battle with cancer.
"He dedicated his life to the success of children, making sure that students were successful and ready to compete in a global society," says Dr. Felicia Donaldson, Everman ISD assistant superintendent.
Even though Amos had been battling cancer, he never let that get in the way of his mission to help students achieve.
"He was so dedicated, he never missed a day," says Dr. Donaldson. "He still was at work, and he came every day smiling and doing what's best for students."
Dr. Amos' funeral will be held Friday morning at Great Commission Baptist Church in Fort Worth, and the district is working on plans to honor him when the next school year begins.
"We will definitely honor him and his work and continue his legacy and the district," says Donaldson.
