The Duncanville ISD is investigating a new allegation against former Duncanville High School girls head basketball coach LaJeanna Howard. As part of that investigation, the district has placed all of the current girls varsity basketball coaching staff on administrative leave with pay.
Howard was issued a one-year suspension by the UIL in October of 2022 for rules violations. A statement from the Duncanville ISD indicates the district is investigating whether she violated that suspension, along with her instructions from the district.
While that investigation is underway, the current head coach of the girls' basketball team at DHS and the rest of the varsity girls' coaching staff are on paid administrative leave.
"If the result of the investigation reveals any wrongdoing by the girls basketball coaches, Duncanville ISD will immediately self-report those issues to the UIL and institute strong corrective action," said Duncanville ISD Superintendent Dr. Marc Smith.
Duncanville cancelled its game against Dallas-Skyline Tuesday night. It was set to be the Pantherettes' final game of the season. The team had been banned from the playoffs this year by the UIL as part of its ruling in October.
