There has been no word yet on what caused that massive fire at the Sherwin-Williams paint plant on Monday, but environmental testing continues in the area.
Officials with the city of Garland along with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the EPA are testing the water and air quality to make sure there's no contamination, and none as been found accoring to reports.
People who live in the area had been complaining about a chemcial smell following yesterday's fire so the testing is continuing out of an abundance of caution.
A statement from Sherwin-Williams noted that the plant is mainly used for manufacturing industrial coatings and resins.
“We want to thank the first responders for assisting us and we will continue to work with the authorities as we complete our assessment,” Julie Young, the company’s vice president of global corporate communications, shared.
