Power demand continues smashing records as this heatwave drags on, and it's no wonder why. Texans say in weather this hot, they need their AC.
"I hope [the grid holds] up," one man said, adding that he's been concerned about power outages.

"It's way too hot," another woman said. "What would we even do? It would just be like, impossible to even live in your own house with the way it's been hot lately."

The power grid has done well so far in these sweltering temps - but ERCOT interim CEO Brad Jones tells the Houston Chronicle he wasn't expecting it to get this hot, and he has concerns about the state's older power generators keeping up with the high demand.

Record breaking power use has been reported over the past two days, and they're about to be topped. ERCOT forecasts that today, power use will hit more than 78,963 MW. One MW can power about 200 homes on hot days. In cooler weather, that number is closer to a thousand.
