According to reports, Paul and Rachel Elliott have a daughter in a McKinney elementary school. They say all 282 books they want removed from McKinney school libraries are not appropriate. They argue the books in question are sexually explicit and contain sexual content that they consider to be obscene.

“The books are not appropriate for any K-12 students,” they wrote to the school board. “Please adhere to the request to remove all of the 282 books from the McKinney ISD school libraries.”

They insist they have read all 282 books in question, a requirement before making a formal request to have the book removed.

Last fall Republican State Rep. Matt Krause launched an investigation into school libraries. He has a list of more than 800 books he would like banned. He says they are books about sex and race that can make students feel uncomfortable.

All 282 books on the Eliotts list are also on Krause' list as well.

At the McKinney ISD board meeting Tuesday night several people showed up to speak during public comments both for and against the topic. However, there was no agenda item regarding the Elliott's challenges and the board took no immediate action.
