A recall involving 19 million eggs sold in Texas and several other states has been upgraded to the FDA’s highest risk level because of possible Salmonella contamination.
Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. recalled about 19 million eggs July 22 after concerns about possible contamination. The FDA has now classified the recall as Class I, meaning the products could cause serious health problems if consumed.
The recalled eggs have sell-by or best-by dates from July 20 through Aug. 17, 2026.
The eggs were sold at Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana and Brookshire’s stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana, as well as other retail and food-service locations in Mississippi and New Mexico.
The eggs were sold under several brand names, including Kroger, Simple Truth, Brookshire’s, Cal-Maine and Country Morning.
Consumers should check their eggs against the recall information and avoid eating recalled products.
