His father died in Dallas police custody, now a federal jury has awarded the teenage son of Tony Timpa one million dollars.

Tony Timpa was 32-years-old when he died in August 2016 while in the custody of Dallas police officers.

Timpa himself had called 9-1-1 operators in a panic and asked for help, saying he was off his medication for anxiety and schizophrenia. He claimed that he was also was high on cocaine at the time.

Dallas Police body cam video showed Timpa was restrained in handcuffs and a police officer knelt on his back for more than 14 minutes while he struggled with officers. He died minutes later.

A jury in a civil trial decided that 3 out of the 4 Dallas Police officers violated Timpa's constitutional rights.

The family had sued for $300 million, but the jury awarded Timpa's 15 year old son one million dollars.

Timpa family attorney Geoff Henley says he is glad the teen was awarded damages but felt the family should have gotten some too.

The city of Dallas has yet to respond to the verdict.
