They were fired after a controversial arrest last year. But now, two Collin County detention officers will get their jobs back.
Last April, Marvin Scott was arrested for marijuana possession.
While in custody, Scott appeared to "exhibit some strange behavior," which prompted detention officers to secure him onto a restraint bed, the sheriff said. Officers used pepper spray and attached a spit mask to Scott's face.
At some point, he became unresponsive and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Scott's mother said her son was diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Following a review, the sheriff fired seven officers, for going against "well-established policies".
Four appealed, including a captain, two sergeants, and one detention officer.
A commission has determined that the captain and one sergeant were rightfully terminated, but concluded that the other sergeant and the detention officer can be allowed back on the job.
The detention officer will serve a 10-day suspension and the sergeant will be demoted.
