Former Dallas Stars center Mike Ribeiro is standing trial in East Texas for sexual assault.
Ribeiro is accused of assaulting three women on the same June day during a lake outing in 2021. Prosecutors say the women were part of a group that was interested in buying Ribeiro's house on Lake Cypress, near the Franklin County town of Mount Vernon.
Dallas Morning News reporter Maggie Prosser, who is covering the trial, says the jury has already heard from one of the victims.
Prosser says Ribeiro's lawyers are claiming there was evidence that was botched and cell phone data that was deleted.
Ribeiro played six seasons with the Stars and is retired.
