A 'hack attack' on Fort Worth city computers is creating some disruptions but most of the stolen data appears to be routine maintenance department information.
Officials say the breach was discovered Friday and the city's computer forensic experts spent the weekend working on it.
Fort Worth's I.T. Solutions Director Kevin Gunn says the stolen information is mostly city maintenance records of the sort that anyone could get by filing an open records request. That could be anything from photographs of pothole repairs to invoices or staff e-mails.
Gunn says it looks like the hackers wanted to make a political statement to embarrass the city because their statement refers to what the hackers call "gender affirming care" and Texas laws to regulate it.
