FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD)- The Fort Worth Police Department is releasing new information about a deadly accident that shut down the highway for hours Thursday morning.
It happened on 820 at White Settlement Road around 1:30 in the morning. Police say there was construction in the area and traffic northbound was at a stop.
Investigators say when the driver of a semi got there, he didn't stop - and crashed into one car - pushing it into another car. The driver of the first car was killed while their passenger was taken to the hospital.
Police say the driver of the semi appeared to be drunk and gave the OK to a blood sample. 24-year-old Guadalupe Velazquez was taken to the hospital, then he was arrested for intoxication manslaughter and intoxicated assault with a vehicle.
