As teenagers and adults alike continue to wear out the refresh button on their browsers amidst 'The Great Social Media Blackout of 2021,' the Fort Worth Police Department has taken the opportunity to make light of the situation.
Using the hashtag #wheresfacebook, the department has reported Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram missing. The post goes on to not-so-subtly poke fun at the vapid nature of the apps:
"Last seen from a cell phone at 10:32 am. on Oct. 4, 2021, viewing cat videos, wedding pictures, and how to prepare a pumpkin spice latte. Users are unable to update their relationship status, what they ate for lunch three days ago, and post pictures of their trip to grandmas."
This post wasn't the first to poke fun at the expense of Facebook, with Twitter themselves posting earlier today: "hello literally everyone."
On a more serious note, all of us here at NewsRadio 1080 KRLD would like to send our condolences to any and all bored millennials struggling to cope with their loss.
On the plus side, for those of you afflicted we hear that the Twitter account @KRLD has some great content to keep you distracted...
*As of the last edit of this post, some accounts have started to resurface*
