For the second day in a row, a Fort Worth Police Department has been fired.
The department says Lt. Richard Perez was let go for drinking alcohol while on duty.
According to a press release, the department says on May 19th of this year, an employee notified Internal Affairs that Perez had driven a city vehicle after drinking alcohol.
During the subsequent administrative investigation, the department says investigators found alcoholic beverages in Perez's workspace.
Following the review, during which time Perez had been on restricted duty and stripped of all police powers, Chief Neil Noakes found that Perez had violated multiple department policies and terminated his employment.
Perez had been with the department for 15 years and was assigned to the Support Services Division; He did not wear a police uniform, did not participate in police investigations and did not respond to calls for service.
On Thursday, the department fired Ofc. Victor Rucker for a domestic violence incident over the summer while off-duty.
