Fort Worth police say their crime reduction plan for the city is working. Others tend to disagree.

Fort Worth assistant chief of police Robert Allredge says they've seen a ten-percent decrease in overall violent crime from 2021 to 2022. Reports also say that murders in Fort Worth have decreased by at least 24%.

Crime against businesses including robberies are also down by ten-percent over the same time period. But there were increases in individual robberies and family violence homicides.

Overall, Allredge says the numbers are heading in the right direction. And a big thing helping deter and track down criminals? Technology. Especially cameras.

Meanwhile, some Fort Worth residents say they still don't feel safe in the community. In fact, some say they feel like it's more dangerous now than it was just a couple of years ago, and they'd like to see more of a police presence.

Alldredge says improving police-community relations is a top priority this year in addition to getting those crime stats down even more.
